Interventi a sostegno della mobilità pubblica e privata nel centro storico

The project "Interventi a Sostegno della mobilità pubblica e privata nel centro storico" was released  for the Municipality of Viterbo, with Italdata S.p.a. This project belongs to "smart mobility" category and is focused to create a monitoring platform for all the parkings of Viterbo and to create a new website for the municipality.

The project for the municipality of Viterbo has provided the design and construction of various components interconnected with each other:


It was designed and built a parking control system.
The public car parks were divided into two categories: distributed and concentrated; in the first case were installed some sensors drowned in the asphalt and able to discriminate the presence of a vehicle in the stall, for the second one has been realized a computational system of the incoming and outgoing vehicles from the parking lot thanks to cameras placed on the entry and exit gates.
The data collected from all the sensors  with all those registered by the parking meters, are sent in real-time to the control center that provides a view, on a cartographic basis, of all the devices on the territory and allows the display of the received values thanks to a user friendly and intuitive dashboard.
It was also created a "park assistance" system to guide drivers to a fast identification of the nearest available parking, based on the use of variable message panels which receive data on free stalls of each parking and display them, allowing citizens to save time and money in searching for a parking space.
Finally the Infomobility system has created a  mobile app for mobile devices (Android and iOS) that shows all the free car parks on the map, allowing in this way to reach them with the GPS and to pay it with cards .


The Access Control system in some Viterbo areas has been enhanced and expanded. 
In particular, a system equipped with a black / white list for the access control has been designed and implemented, integrated with a violation detection systems, providing information on the number of vehicles discriminated by type. The system consists of a series of new generation video cameras placed at the gates of limited traffic zones linked to the central station and to the information panels. In this way users are aware in real time of activation or deactivation of the gate and therefore of  the risk of penalties.
The collected data will also be viewed by the operators, through geo-referencing of the cameras and panels, that can view in real time the message displayed on the panel, and the status of the LTZ.


The city of Viterbo, thanks to his historical and cultural heritage, has a lot of tourists during the year, that’s why it’s important to develop an information network to make a city  become "smart". 
So new tourist signs have been created and placed near the "gateways" of the city and along the cultural routes: Via di Santa Rosa, Via delle Fontane, Via dei Papi,  Quartieri medievali e Via dei Monasteri. In order to make easier the identification of the different stages on the panels, for each path was chosen a distinctive color and were placed for each POI (Point of Interest) two different types of totems. Each totem provides a description of the place, and inform you about the directions of the closest stops. Each totem is also equipped with a QRCode that link to the web  portal.


For the municipality of Viterbo has been also created a brand new web portal, that presents a more interactive section with the GeoCommunity and online Surveys. The GeoCommunity allows the users to share their experiences through pictures, videos and texts, georeferred on a map and is connected to the most popular social networks such as Facebook and Twitter.  In order to ensure the accuracy and legality of the contents, the GeoCommunity has also a moderation feature that allows the operator to examine the contents and then to publish those on the net. Through the online surveys the municipality will be able to test citizens point of view on the most interesting topics. Also in this case there is an operator that starts a survey, which may be open-ended or multiple choice, and collect the results obtained.
